New commercial building
Lapa, São Paulo.
Concept Design > Construction Documents
2014-2021

The building’s relation to the site was conceived as a response to its corner geometry, seeking to maintain the continuity of the block and to reconcile, through ample lateral recesses, conditions of natural light and adequate ventilation to each of the six commercial rooms. The compact functional elements (circulation core and small bathrooms) were distributed in a fragmented manner, with certain formal autonomy as a system of geometric compensation. The total area of the balconies was divided into only two large open spaces, which can be used as outdoor meeting rooms and may be integrated into one of the adjacent rooms or both. The commercial tower is suspended, free from its podium, which accommodates 4 parking levels (two of which are underground). An opening in the first floor slab (upper parking) brings natural light to the lobby. The foundation was designed by imagining a future transformation of the use of the ground floor, minimizing fixed or structural elements, so that the entire ground floor can be opened in continuity to the street.

A torre comercial é suspensa, solta do embasamento.
