The design competition was dedicated to the construction of an archive building, attached to the administrative headquarters of the Preservation Center of Casa de Rui Barbosa Foundation.
Our proposal was based on three main premises:
The first concerns the interface of the designed ensemble with the existing buildings and with the adjacent public space. Given the public nature of the Foundation and being aware of the need for it to establish a dialogue with the neighborhood and the city, the project proposes the requalification of the end of Rua Assunção, by widening the front sidewalk to the intervention site, forming a small square that dissolves the public-private boundary of the lot.
The second aspect that justified our proposal, concerns the rationality of the archive spaces. The project aimed at making most use of the site, but also sought a simple geometry. The building is organized into two longitudinal and linear bars, articulated by a vertical circulation core. The relationship between these volumes results in an efficient distribution of flows and infrastructure. Another concern was the adaptability of the building to other uses that may be necessary in the future, which reinforced the adopted party of structural simplicity and a flexible facade closing system.
The last point concerns the construction aspects used in the archive building. A prefabricated construction system was used with the exception of the ground floor. This floor will serve as an anchor for the entire construction. A basement in cast concrete supports the entire building on the ground and performs as a retaining wall of the boundary lines.
O concurso de projetos objetivou a construção de um edifício-acervo, anexo à sede administrativa do Centro de Preservação, da Fundação Casa de Rui Barbosa.
A concepção do projeto se apoiou em três premissas principais:
A primeira diz respeito à interface do conjunto projetado com as edificações existentes e, com o espaço público adjacente. Dado o carácter público da Fundação e tendo consciência da necessidade de que esta estabeleça um diálogo com o bairro e com a cidade, o projeto propõe a requalificação do final da Rua Assunção, por meio do alargamento da calçada frontal ao sítio de intervenção, conformando uma pequena praça que dilui o limite público-privado do lote.
O segundo aspecto que fundamentou a proposta, diz respeito à racionalidade dos espaços de acervo. O projeto visou o melhor aproveitamento do terreno, mas buscou também uma geometria simples. O edifício é organizado em duas lâminas longitudinais e lineares, articulada por um núcleo de circulação vertical. A relação entre esses volumes resulta em uma eficiente distribuição de fluxos e infraestrutura. Pensou-se também na adaptabilidade do edifício a outros usos que se possam fazer necessários no futuro, o que reforçou o partido adotado de uma simplicidade estrutural e um sistema de fechamento de fachada flexível.
O último ponto diz respeito aos aspectos construtivos empregados no edifício-acervo. Utilizou-se um sistema de construção pré-fabricado com exceção do embasamento térreo. Este pavimento servirá de ancoragem para toda a construção. Um embasamento em concreto moldado in loco assenta toda a edificação no terreno e realiza a contenção das linhas limite.
